I’m Mikaela Ian – I help black millennials escape the everyday by sharing thought-provoking, insightful pop culture commentary. This basically means I have no filter and I said what I said!

I’ve spent the majority of my career as a journalist in my home of Bermuda where I have covered countless events locally and internationally and interviewed politicians, heads of state and celebrities and worked with the prestigious 35th America’s Cup. After switching to PR/Marketing and spending a few years there, I’ve decided to revisit my journalism roots with this blog.

There’s nothing I love more than a heated debate about pop culture. Whether we are discussing the #metoo movement, how Beyoncé can do no wrong, Duchess Meghan shaking up the royals or politics, I’m always here for it.

Not to mention, I’m known for my strong opinions and staunch stances on various topics, which usually translates into very entertaining convo. So needless to say, you will either love or hate me. Either way, I promise to keep you entertained.

Here on Mikaelaian.com, you will find my opinions on current events, my weekly vlog, reviews of events, movies, books, and so much more. I’m also obsessed with food and am a pretty damn good cook, so I may share recipes here and there. Stay a while, I’m definitely your cup of tea.
