Get Fit with UP Fitness Before Christmas
Hi guys! Today I’m kicking off my new wellness series which chronicles my health and fitness journey with Up Fitness Live. I started training with them remotely on November 19 on a 12-week programme. Every other Monday, I’ll have an update for you. Here’s the first post.
After travelling back to back in October and November, I knew I needed to get my health together before the holidays. I hadn’t been exercising regularly and my eating wasn’t as healthy as I claimed it to be. I knew I needed a change and I needed it now.
Enter UP Fitness. The company is based out of the U.K. and I was offered the opportunity to try their online coaching programme. It was a bit different to what I’m used to, so I thought why not try something new. I figured it wouldn’t hurt. If anything, I’d learn some new tips and tricks to implement into my life.
I decided to start six weeks before January 1 to really give myself a head start before the new year. I didn’t want to be one of those people who set weight loss as a resolution. I wanted to be well underway with my health and fitness so that it was a habit before 2019 rolled around.
The premise of UP Fitness is pretty simple – I weight train three days a week and do cardio twice a week. It’s nothing extreme and the focus is consistency. With the food, I eat four meals a day comprising of protein and veg and every meal, fat and fruit and two meals and carbs in the other two. Again, nothing crazy. Maybe a bit boring, but definitely doable.
So I jumped right in and I’m loving it! I adore the weight training programme. It’s manageable and I’m in and out of the gym within 45 minutes. On cardio days, I do hill sprints and I honestly hate them, but they are definitely helping to improve my fitness.
Having only completely three weeks (I was sick last week so wasn’t able to do 100%), I love it. The programme is great and realistic. I committed to 12 weeks, so I’ve got nine to go. The main trainer Elliott is incredible. He is a straight shooter and doesn’t sugar coat anything. He’s also great at keeping me motivated.
I check in with my coach Charlotte every week and send in measurements, weight and photos. It’s not fun taking the photos or getting or the scale every week, but it’s a necessary part. Stay tuned and I’ll keep you posted along the way!
Are you trying to get in shape before the New Year? Or do you plan to start on January 1?! Let me know in the comments.
