How I Use Affirmations to Boost My Confidence
I used to be one of those people who thought affirmations were hokey or new age or whatever. I thought they weren’t for me and were for people who talked about the spirit world and the universe and all those weird things.
Turns out, affirmations are for those people, but they’re for me as well. I started using affirmations last May after reading Jen Sincero’s amazing book – You Are a Badass. She had a ton of examples in there and then suggested you create your own. This book was life-changing for me and made me see that I could truly do anything if I was willing to put in the work. So of course, I started doing affirmations.
And I learned so much over the past year of incorporating them into my life. Today I’m sharing how I’ve used affirmations to boost my confidence.
To start with, I write down my affirmations. When you write down your affirmations, it makes it real. One of mine for instance is “I belong in every room I walk into”. By writing that down, it tricks my brain into believing that I do belong in any and every room I walk into until I actually do believe it. That gives me a confidence boost when I’m in situations I don’t feel comfortable in just yet.
Another way is to set a time to repeat them everyday, ideally a part of your morning routine (if you don’t have one, you need one!). By repeating them over and over, it becomes fact. Another one of mine is: “Success flows easily into my life and the life of my business”. I repeat this a few times every time I go over my affirmation list. At first, I didn’t believe it because I didn’t believe in my business. But now, I know FOR A FACT that success flows easily into my life and the life of my business.
And finally, using affirmations can help you manifest the things you want in your life. If one of your affirmations is “My confidence on video helps me to elevate my business”, you are intentionally starting to manifest that which you want in your life. It’s one thing to think something, but when you put it out there for the universe (yes, I say the universe) to hear, that takes it to another level and boosts your confidence automatically.
I’ve been using affirmation for over a year now and as a result, I’ve manifesting an amazing business coach, a beautiful family vacation this past summer, a stay in a luxury hotel, membership at a private club and so much more. All of these things coming into existence for me has incredibly boosted my confidence and made me a believer. Are you intentionally using affirmations to build your confidence?
