Three Ways to Instantly Boost Your Confidence
Picture this: a mom of three wakes up, gets ready, looks in the mirror and is instantly miserable. She hasn’t slept properly all week, her house is a mess and her son forgot to tell her about his science project that’s due tomorrow. Long story short, she could use a pick me up but has no idea where to start.
This mom could use more confidence, but right now, she needs something immediately to help her feel better about herself. She needs an instant confidence boost.
Does this sound like you? Overworked, tired, overwhelmed. If this is you, it sounds like you could use some tips to add the pep back into your step. With that said, here are three ways to instantly boost your confidence.
Write down five to ten things you’re amazing at
This may sound really corny and a bit vain to you. But, it’s actually the opposite. How often do you compliment others? Probably on a daily basis. And how often do you compliment yourself? Probably not on a regular basis. So it’s time to toot your own horn and pat yourself on the back.
Take out a pen and paper or you can do this in the notes section of your phone. Write down five to ten things you’re amazing at and really take a few minutes to do this. Once you’re done, read through your list. Watch how fast you start to smile and feel better about yourself. Even though we were taught it’s not ladylike to talk yourself up or that it’s vain to congratulate yourself, sometimes we need self-praise. The next time you need a boost, pull this tip out of your back pocket!
This is my favourite tip! When I’m not feeling like myself or I’m feeling a bit down, I go and sweat it out. Whether it’s heading to the gym to lift weights (my fave), going to a dance class, hitting the road for a run, stretching it out on a yoga mat or going for a walk, find an activity you love doing and give yourself permission to sweat it out even if it’s just for 30 minutes.
The endorphins will start to flow, plus your face will be flushed from sweating and make you more attractive. No one ever regretted a workout they did, so this is a win win situation.
Do something that makes you happy/feel good
For this tip, I give you permission to be a little bit selfish. If you need to feel better about yourself immediately, do something that makes you feel good/happy. This could be getting your nails done, going to a coffee shop solo and ordering a latte with a slice of cake, binging your favourite show, having a nice bath, doing your makeup or whatever it is that makes you feel good. I guarantee you, this tip will give you a boost of confidence when you need it the most.
We all find ourselves in situations where our confidence is low, but it’s how we deal with it that determines if we get out of the funk quickly. Next time you aren’t feeling it, try out these tips and let me know how you make out!
