Why I’m still exercising after Falling Off

Well, Christmas is over. Are you thrilled? Sad? Still eating and drinking??

I’m done with Christmas food. I love it but there’s a reason we only eat it once a year – it’s decadent AF. I allowed myself to have two plates of Christmas food and copious amounts of wine because I could. But now, it’s time to get on track.

I’ve completed the first phase with UP Fitness and I wish I was doing better. I was on track but then life happened. I was down ten pounds and feeling great, then we had a bit of a family emergency and it all went out the window.

My toddler fell and broke his leg last week, which led to my husband and I spending three days in hospital and me obviously not eating as best I could not exercising. I had prepared food for the week which ended up in the trash because I wasn’t home to eat it. Frustrating.

But the good news is the baby is OK. He’s frustrated not being able to move around and what not, but he will be fine. Oh and I’ll be fine too. I’m back on the healthy eating and guzzling a ton of water. I’m also back in the gym and feeling like I never left.

The thing I love about UP Fitness is that it’s a lifestyle change. It’s not focused on perfection or giving it all or nothing. The goal is to make small changes every day which result in a lifestyle change.

The main trainer Elliott encouraged us (the ladies in the Facebook group I’m a part of) to enjoy ourselves for Christmas, which I thought was great. Most programmes I’ve done in the past have been all or nothing and that eventually leads me to fail. I feel like UP Fitness is super approachable and will be the difference in me succeeding over the long term rather than losing weight quickly and having short term success only to gain the weight back.

So this time around, I’m doing it differently. I’m enjoying the gym. I’m enjoying eating healthy food that has me at a weight I haven’t seen in a long time. I enjoy checking in and bragging about how good I’m doing, aside from last week of course. But most of all, I’m enjoying making my health a priority.
