Crispy Air Fryer Fries + Spicy Aioli

Mikaela Ian

I don’t know about you, but I’m a French fry girl. You can usually find me ordering them wherever I go unless I’m really watching what I eat.

There’s just something about fried potatoes that makes me incredibly happy. I prefer hand cut fries but sometimes frozen fries are just as good. When I’m at home, I never fry anything so I had to find a way to make fries at home crispy as delicious.

For years I’ve makes them in the oven and they come out ok. Well seasoned but never crispy enough. Then my mom bought me an air fryer and the game changed. This device produces super crispy but yet healthy French fries. It’s the strangest but best thing that’s happened to my kitchen in years.

I’ve been able to make delicious fries at home without all the guilt! So here’s my easy recipe for crispy air fryer fries with spicy aioli dip to go along with it. Let’s do this!

Crispy Air Fryer Fries + Spicy Aioli

Easy, crispy fries you can make at home with an air fryer!

  • 2 russet potatoes
  • 1 tbsp oil of your choice
  • 1-2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp harissa or chili powder
  • 2 tbsp mayo, vegan or regular
  • 1 tbsp sriracha
  • 1 tsp sweet chili sauce
  1. Slice the potatoes into matchsticks and then cut in half. Add the potatoes to a bowl and cover with cold water. Set aside for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, drain the potatoes and dry thoroughly. Add to a bowl with the oil and seasonings. Toss to coat the potatoes evenly.

*Note: If you’re really pressed for time, don’t worry about soaking the potatoes. They will be less crispy but still delicious if you season and cook straightaway.

  2. Set air fryer to 400 and spray with cooking spray. Add the potatoes and set the time for 15 minutes. While the potatoes are cooking, make the dip by combining the mayo, sriracha and sweet chili sauce together. Set aside.
  3. When the time goes off for the fries, shake them in the fry basket to evenly disburse the fries. Add another ten minutes onto the timer. After ten minutes, check the fries. You want them to be golden brown. If they are too light, add a few more minutes.
  4. Once the fries are cooked, taste them to see if they need any more salt. If so, add a pinch and toss. Plate them up with the aioli and enjoy.
